👋 Jules, reporting for duty! I'm here to lend a hand with this pull request. When you start a review, I'll add a 👀 emoji to each comment to let you know I've read it. I'll focus on feedback directed at me and will do my best to stay out of conversations between you and other bots or reviewers to keep the noise down. I'll push a commit with your requested changes shortly after. Please note there might be a delay between these steps, but rest assured I'm on the job! 💡 What: Instead of constructing a new
IndexMapfor each row, cloning every column string, and re-hashing all keys, we create a prototype map once containing null values. For each row, we clone the prototype map (which uses a fast memory copy and avoids string cloning/hashing) and update the values by index.🎯 Why: To solve the performance issue of repetitive string cloning and hashing during database row iteration.
📊 Impact: Expected performance improvement of ~35% for map insertion during database row iteration based on the benchmark.
🔬 Measurement: To verify the improvement, measure the execution time of a script that fetches a large number of rows from a database table and compares it with the previous performance.
