Give Markdown documentation responses an absolute HTTP Link canonical pointing to the corresponding HTML page. Reuse the existing latest-document lookup and canonical URL builder, including current-version aliases. Preserve Markdown content, filtering options, and permanent moved-page redirects.

Also return explicit HTTP 404 responses for unknown documents and libraries. Throwing Router notFound from these server handlers produced a 200 response in the HTTP regression check. Error responses do not advertise a canonical.

Based on #1263 for the local directory bridge used in verification. Merge that prerequisite, then retarget this PR to main.

Validation: HTTP checks matched Markdown headers to HTML canonicals for framework and generic routes, current-version aliases, moved Solid tutorial URLs with query options, and missing documents/libraries. Final commit checks passed:516 tests,3 skips, types and lint clean. No claim of archived-branch coverage from local files. Guidance: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/crawling-indexing/consolidate-duplicate-urls#rel-canonical-header

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Missing libraries and documentation pages now return a clear 404 response instead of an error.
    • Documentation pages now include a canonical URL that reflects the latest available documentation path and version.

📝 Walkthrough

Both Markdown docs routes now return explicit 404 responses for missing libraries or documents. They pass the library’s latest branch to docs loading and add a canonical Link header based on the resolved docs path and version.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Do not recurse into node_modules etc. inside nested paths: behavior matches. Check the .tanstack-start/build ignore entry instead.

The Node path in fetchApiContentsFs also ignores .tanstack-start/build. Here, the ignored set compares only entry.name, so it does not include that entry. The isolate runtime therefore returns .tanstack-start/build contents, but the Node runtime does not. The two runtimes then build different trees for the same repository root. If you add the entry, you must match it against the relative path, because entry.name is only build.
