references.lengthbefore you parse the front matter.
parseFrontMattercallsparseYaml, andparseYamlthrows on invalid YAML. Line 587 runs before the empty-references early return. Today the only caller passes a non-empty array, so this is not reachable yet. Move the check first so the function does no extra work and has no failure mode on the no-op path.Proposed fix

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Reject empty version identifiers.
If frontmatter contains testedWith: { react: '1.2.3-.' }, this regex accepts the value. The page then displays a malformed version as a tested package version. Require a nonempty identifier between dots in prerelease and build metadata, and cover both forms in the validation test.

🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Normalize directory before building child paths and parentPath.
readLocalDocsTree uses the raw directory value in path.posix.join and in parentPath. The old isolate-free implementation strips the leading slash with removeLeadingSlash, and the GitHub implementations do not use one. If fetchApiContents receives a startingPath with a leading slash, such as /docs, every returned path and _links.self starts with /. On Windows, path.resolve also accepts backslash input that the posix join keeps unchanged. Those paths no longer match the GitHub-shaped contract that menu and link consumers expect. Also, parentPath here is the parent directory. buildFileTree in src/utils/documents.server.ts builds an accumulated prefix that starts at '' and ends with /. The isolate and non-isolate local paths therefore return different parentPath values.
Proposed fix
export async function readLocalDocsTree(
repoDir: string,
directory: string,
depth = 0,
): Promise<Array<GitHubFileNode>> {
+ directory = directory.replace(/\\/g, '/').replace(/^\/+|\/+$/g, '')Check whether any consumer reads parentPath before you decide how to align it.

Fixed the version validation in 1fab369. It now rejects empty prerelease/build identifiers and numeric identifiers with leading zeros, while accepting valid prerelease and build metadata. The regression cases and full pnpm test suite passed locally. The directory-tree comment concerns code already merged in #1263. I checked the current endpoint: it rejects paths outside the repository before calling the tree reader, so the reported leading-slash output does not match that request path. The parentPath values do differ, but I found no reads of that property in src. I have not changed that contract as part of this fix. CI and verification of the freshness UI are still pending. |
|
Verified 1fab369 locally with synthetic documentation fixtures. The dated page renders its authored date and exact tested package version, and the undated page renders neither. A dated reference wrapper uses the later date and its own tested version; an undated wrapper does not inherit the source-only claims. All four routes returned 200, and their canonical sitemap entries use the same dates or omit lastmod for undated pages. I also checked the dated footer in the browser. These were metadata fixtures, not tests of the documented Router recipes. CI is green on this head. The required sensitive-path review is still pending, so this is not ready to merge yet. |
Show optional authored update dates and exact tested-package versions on documentation pages, and use the same validated date for sitemap lastmod. Missing or invalid facts remain absent. Old cached manifests remain compatible.
Reference pages do not inherit source-only tested-version claims. A reference date is emitted only when every source in the chain has a valid date, using the latest date. Added author maintenance rules and tests for invalid dates, moving version ranges, per-page changes, cache compatibility, and reference provenance.
Based on #1263, the local directory bridge fix. Merge that first and retarget to main. TanStack/router#8387 supplies the first source-backed Query recipe metadata.
Validation: full site checks passed (523 tests, 3 skips, types/lint clean). Headless HTTP checks verified framework docs, generic docs, references, undated pages, and matching sitemap dates. Mobile metadata layout was inspected. Temporary local fixtures were removed. Preview checks used the documented DISABLE_REDACT=true mode after the development Redact walker failed; no production performance claim is made.
